Cloud computing can transform the processes and operations of a healthcare organization, improving efficiency and productivity. One example of this is hosting a health information exchange (HIE) within the cloud. HIEs pull together disparate healthcare information and then help facilitate the access and retreival of clinical data to provider safer, effective, patient-centered care.

Part One: Virtualization is a good thing.
I believe that virtualization technologies will provide a huge boost for HCOs to meet this increase in integration demands. When used in addition to other technologies, virtualization can enable HCOs to reduce costs in a variety of ways.
